Naming, concept and full go-to-market for an EV charger launched as a comic-book hero: the platform built to defeat the four E-Villains of public charging.
"Public chargers don't fail by accident. They face villains: Copperhead, Brute, Intruder, Corroder. So we didn't launch a product. We launched a hero."
"Cable theft became Copperhead. Rough use, Brute. Break-ins, Intruder. Extreme weather, Corroder. Naming the enemies made the engineering a story worth telling."
"Not a spec sheet. A universe. The stand, the comic, the merch, the alarm tags. Every touchpoint told the same story: the hero in charge."
Hellonext needed to launch its most protected EV charger ever. I named it GUARDiON, personified the charger as a comic-book hero, named the four threats to public charging as E-Villains, and built the entire go-to-market around that universe: animated comic build-up on social, a 3D launch film, the trade-show stand, merch, press strategy and the reveal event at Power2Drive Europe 2026.
Public charging infrastructure fails for the same reasons, over and over: cable theft, rough use, break-ins and extreme weather. For charge point operators these are not technical issues. They are business issues. Every hour offline means lost revenue. Every intervention raises operational cost. Every failure erodes user trust.
Hellonext engineered a charger to answer exactly that: a protected cabinet architecture designed outside-in, shielding critical components and turning protection into uptime. My job was to make the market care: to launch an anti-vandalism spec sheet as a story people would actually want to follow.
The answer: GUARDiON, The Hero in Charge. A charger personified as a comic-book hero, revealed at Power2Drive Europe 2026 in Munich under the narrative The Fall of E-Villains.
A category that launches products with datasheets. EV charging launches all look the same: renders, kW figures, connector counts. A product whose core differentiator is protection (locks, hinges, Kevlar, alarms) risked being the most boring launch of all. The engineering was remarkable; the category language would have buried it.
A crowded stage. Power2Drive Europe is the continent's biggest charging-infrastructure showcase. Every competitor unveils hardware there. Hellonext needed a reveal that would pull visitors, press and partners to one booth, and be remembered after the stages came down.
An invisible enemy. Vandalism and theft are real, costly and universally felt by operators. But nobody talked about them with any emotion. The pain was there. The story wasn't.
The naming: GUARDiON. A guardian that guards what stays ON. The name carries the product truth (protection that drives uptime) with the "iON" ending anchoring it in electricity and the Hellonext product world. It reads as a hero's name, which is exactly what the concept needed it to be.
The mote: The Fall of E-Villains. Instead of listing failure modes, I gave the four threats to public charging names, faces and personalities: Copperhead (cable theft), Brute (rough use and vandalism), Intruder (break-ins and fraud), Corroder (extreme weather). Suddenly every engineering feature had an enemy to defeat, and every communication had a plot.
The concept: personify the charger. GUARDiON became a comic-book hero, drawn in a full comic universe. The charger's armored cabinet became the hero's armor. The engineering story became an origin story. B2B hardware became a narrative the whole industry could retell, because "the charger that defeats Copperhead" sticks where "anti-vandal lock with auditable access" doesn't.
The tactical launch strategy. A phased build-up designed to peak at the reveal: teaser posts introducing the E-Villains one by one on social media as animated comic episodes, a pre-announcement press release seeding the reveal date, the live unveiling at Power2Drive (Booth C 6.178, 23 June 2026, 11:00), and a reveal-day press release converting booth momentum into industry coverage.
Creative direction. Guided the creative team through the entire visual creation process: the comic-book art direction, the hero and villain character design, the campaign look and feel, and the webdesign for the GUARDiON platform at hellonext.world/guardion. Accompanied the AI-assisted development of the visual universe, keeping the output coherent with the brand and the concept.
Social build-up: animated comic episodes. The launch was preceded by a sequence of separate posts on social media: animated comic-book clips introducing the world of GUARDiON and its enemies one episode at a time, building curiosity toward the reveal date like a series trailer, not a product teaser.
The 3D launch film. Co-created with the copywriter: a cinematic 3D video giving the hero its reveal moment. The film anchored the unveiling and now fronts the campaign.
The stand. Defined the booth experience at Power2Drive: the Fall of E-Villains backdrop wall, comic-book floor graphics with villain scenes underfoot, the printed GUARDiON comic book as the takeaway piece, "E-Villains Beware" tags on the secured cables, and the charger staged as the hero at the centre of it all.
The merch. Comic-print t-shirts and branded pieces that turned visitors into carriers of the story, and the booth into one of the most photographed at the fair.
Press strategy. Wrote and launched the press releases into specialist media, a pre-reveal announcement and a reveal-day story, engineered to shift editorial framing from "another charger" to "the launch with a narrative".
Project & event management. Managed the entire project end to end: creative production, AI development, stand build, go-to-market preparation and the launch event itself in Munich.
GUARDiON was revealed on 23 June 2026 at Power2Drive Europe and ran for three days as one of the most distinctive booth experiences at Messe München. A B2B hardware launch people queued to photograph, wear and take home as a comic book.
The launch was picked up across the specialist charging-infrastructure press, including Mobility Plaza, Mobility Portal Europe, ERPEC News and Strategic Energy, with the E-Villains narrative carried into the coverage. Proof that the industry didn't just report the product, it retold the story.
The concept gave Hellonext what datasheets never could: an ownable narrative platform. The Fall of E-Villains is Chapter 1. A universe built to expand with every product that follows.
